Happy Birthday AVIKA

Our little angel Avika has turned ONE today. We are so excied….its been one year since she came to our world and charmed us with her innocence and love. It seems as if she has been with us for so many years. For those who don’t know, Avika was born on the first day of navratrain. It is considered to be the auspicious day and she is a GOD’s gift for us. During this one year, she has learnt so many things and has taught more than that to her sweet novice mommmiee (Aparna) J. She now yells for an outing, she can stand on her own feet, she can play with toys and invite others to join her, she leads everyone at home and make them dance through out the day. She can eat variety of food …be it daliya, kheer, roti, boiled veg, ice cream. Her favourite colour is green (I guess!) and her favourite food item is ??? She loves going out and she has a habit of playing guitar using her finger and lips when she feels sleepy..it’s her most favourite pose.

She will be celebrating her second diwali with us at Noida home. Avika’s badhi Maa (that’s me) and Badhe Paa are eagerly luking forward to her visit and wanted to play alot with her. We have gifted her a photo website, wherein we have uploaded some of the golden moments we have spent with her. Apart from that, an email address is created for her so that she doesn’t have to struggle for a good email address in the future.

Some of her milestones pics are displayed below..check out for more pics at :

Karna Vedana: Ear Piercing

Karna Vedana is an ear piercing ritual. I personally feel that ear piercing is quite painful but these days it doesn’t seems so. Eversince, Avika got her ears pierced with the help of multispeciality doctor, I have been encoursaged to get second ear peiercing. Anyways, let me describe how our brave sweetheart got her ear peircerd. She was taken to a clinic wherein they first applied some cream on her ear lobes.

Then after some minutes, they used some small instrument to pierce a cute little ear ring in her ear lobe. Avika I have a secret to share with you. Everyone at home find your face more like a boy as u completely resemble your father. And they wanted to give you a look of girl. SO this ceremony was planned at this time. Here are some of ure ear piercing pics.

Mundan Ceremony

"Mundan” is a ceremony where a child gets his/her first hair cut. Our Avika turned nine months on 30th June 2009. Her mundan ceremony was performed in a unique way at a barber shop in bangalore in the presence of her DaadaDaadi and MomDad.
Initially, the mundan ceremony was planned in a state of the art parlour at Cosmos shopping mall. However, to everyones disappointment, regular parlours in Bangalore did a zero shave and not a typical razor shave mundan. So, everyone headed towards a smaller parlour opposite the mall (Last minute change in the plan!!). Untill now Avika was all excited as it was more like an outling for her. Poor angel was unaware of the plans of her parents to chop off her lovely hairs. She got little uncomfortable when she entered the small barber shop.
As per the ritual, Avika had to sit on the lap of her daddu while her hairs are being shaved. So daddu first sat on the HOT SEAT and then avika sat on daddu’s lap. Her daadu held her head and body tight and straight, while mommy dear held her arms tight. Daddy held the atta where the Hair were getting collected by him. Daddy also kept Bib, rattle etc handy to pacify Avika’s big tears & wails. Alas, they were of little use.
But , after the shave as everyone descended the steps of the parlour right under the sun, Avika gave her sunshine smile and started laughing n laughing. Oh what a relief it was for everyone!!! Later everyone one enjoyed Dosa Lunch and went to temple for God’s blessings.

Annprashan

Aannprashan is the day when a child tastes the first byte of the food (Ann). Unitill now, child is totally dependent on mother’s milk and gripe water. From now onwards, a child is feeded with dal, rice, farex, juice, fruit juice, etc. Today was the Aannprashan day of Avika. She tasted the byte of food (aann) for the first time. She threw little tantrums initially, but later like a true angel she showed patience and tasted the food from the hand of her Daadi. For this occassion, we cooked kheer for her and she was decked up in a yellow outfit that her Daadi bought from her favourite market :) Atta Check out the images and video for more insight into the event.

Welcome Party

A welcome party was thrown for Avika in the massive lush green lawns of Akash Mess. It was the first getogether wherein all relatives and friends met Avika and blessed her with lovely gifts. Avika was adorned in a lovely green dress which Mom and Badhi Maa especially bought for her from Ritu Wears. She was luking a true princess in that dress. Intially when party began Avika was quite patient but later when she got little hungry and mommie dear was mobbed by crowd, she lost all her patience and started crying. Finally, we changed her dress and adored in a simple blue frock. She was happier in the new dress.
Avika..you messed up her ure mom's saree just at a right time when you were about to leave for the party. Somehow, your mom managed to clean the saree and made you comfortable as well.

You showed great patience through out the party and was enjoying your photosession with Badhi Maa. Finally when party was over, you comfortably slept in the lap of mommie dear on way back to home.
